We all shed a tear when Chris Evans announced that he wasn't going to be Captain America anymore after Avengers: Endgame. While we did have initial reservations about it (he played Johnny Storm, after all), he did such an amazing job that we can't imagine anyone else being suitable for the role. But then came the Marvel Comics What If which has since been animated and streamed on Disney+. Which made us think, is there a better version of the MCUniverse out there that we just haven't discovered? We looked at our different Marvel watches to see if we can imagine a different perspective.
This Captain America Watch is set during the time when our superhero tangles with Winter Soldier. It looks dark and gritty, just like how we imagine things would be if you got into a huge fight with your best friend. But what if Steve Rogers didn't become Captain America? Can you imagine anyone else on this dial? Peggy Carter, perhaps? Maybe not. But if you squint a little, it kind of looks like Johnny Walker (Wyatt Russell's version of him). Which is apt since he will be playing Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Maybe that's why this is one of the best Marvel gift ideas in our collection. You get Steve Rogers and Johnny Walker in one watch. Yes? No? You be the judge.
Our next question is, what if Steve Rogers was the first Iron Man instead of Tony Stark? And the suit was built by Howard Stark instead of his genius billionaire inventor son? It boggles the mind to think of anyone aside from Robert Downey, Jr. in the role. Looking at this Iron Man Watch, we can easily imagine someone else wearing the suit. Speaking of, this is an exclusive watch with limited quantities. The stainless steel is colored a rich, deep red with the dial reminding us of the Arc Reactor. Whether or not you can imagine someone else playing Iron Man, you have to admit that this is one watch that you can imagine the real Tony Stark wearing.
T'Challa isn't gone forever. In the second episode of Marvel's What If, we meet him again in an earlier timeline before he disappeared in Avengers: Endgame. And in this one, he's not the Black Panther. He's [spoiler alert!] Star Lord! The character is voiced by the late Chadwick Boseman which is just amazing and heartbreaking in light of his death last year. We must admit, however, we really can't see him being as goofy as Peter Quill. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't have done a great job at it. Whatever the case may be, if you want to channel your inner warrior or just remember such a great actor and character that brought us all joy, we've got this Black Panther watch here. It features a Wakandan-inspired design with tribal patterns and silver-tone outlined red hour markers. The dial has a black background with blue accents while the leather strap has yellow stitching. While Chadwick Boseman may be gone from this world, we remain Wakanda Forever!
